FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Why play club volleyball?
There are many reasons to play club volleyball such as:

  • to learn more about the sport of volleyball from experienced coaches,
  • improve your individual and team skills,
  • continue to play at a competitive level after school season, and
  • showcase your abilities to college recruiters.

Many players join the Texas Image family because we provide a positive, yet challenging experience that prepares them to play volleyball at a high level in high school, college, and beyond.

What is the cost to tryout?
Pre-registration will be $45.00 (on or before Oct. 20, 2012). The cost after the pre-registration period is $55.00, which is non-refundable. Athletes must bring $55.00 cash or check payable to “TEXAS IMAGE VOLLEYBALL CLUB” to their first day of tryouts. Athletes need to complete the medical waiver and release form and bring it to the tryouts.

How are tryouts conducted and players selected for each team?
Tryouts for each age group are held over three separate days to ensure that the right decisions are made. The tryout fee covers all three tryouts. Several Texas Image Volleyball coaches will be involved in the tryouts and selections. All players will be given an equal opportunity. No athlete will be offered a position without participating in the tryout process. The better your skills are the higher probability of making a team. Skill is not the only factor considered. Teams need to be balanced with all positions, so the position that you play may be a factor. Attitude and leadership are also taken into consideration.

Practices are fast paced, with plenty of exercises and movements. Jumping, running, and “hitting the floor” are all part of volleyball. To be at your best during a game, you must be ready physically and mentally in volleyball. In volleyball, you move to the ball, you don’t wait for the ball to move to you. So yes, it’s a demanding sport.
